Last week, Kansas City Southern named William Wochner interim general counsel as part of an international legal department reorganization. The railroad also announced Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Robert Terry’s departure from KCS.

Currently VP and associate general counsel, Wochner will be responsible for legal, claims and corporate secretary functions for KCS and its U.S. subsidiaries, and commercial contracts and operating agreements in the United States and Mexico. KCS plans to conduct a search for a permanent general counsel.

For now, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) Director Legal Lourdes Padilla will report to Wochner for commercial contracts and operating agreements, and to KCSM President and Executive Representative José Zozaya regarding all other Mexican legal matters.

In addition, KCSM Director Security James Kniestedt will report to KCS VP of Administration Thomas Campbell so the line of reporting associated with security and freight claims prevention functions are consistent in the United States and Mexico, KCS said.
