Ohio commission approves warning device upgrades at 13 crossings

advertisement

Yesterday, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved the Ohio Rail Development Commission’s (ORDC) authorization of warning device installments at 13 grade crossings.

Flashing lights and gates will be installed at a CSX Transportation crossing in Versailles; Indiana & Ohio Railway crossings in Harlan Township, Norwood and Urbana; Norfolk Southern Railway crossings in Brook Park, Elmwood Place, Franklin County (one) and Madison County (four); and a RJ Corman Western Lines crossing in Darke County.

Federal funds will cover the projects’ costs.

In other action, PUCO authorized installation of flashing lights at a crossing in Richland County. PUCO, ORDC and Ashland Railway Inc. will share funding for that project.

Railroads must submit site plans and cost estimates for each project by March 22, 2011, and complete construction by Dec. 22, 2011.
