United Transportation Union (UTU)-represented workers at Florida East Coast Railway recently ratified two four-year agreements affecting wages, benefits and working conditions.

Expiring Dec. 31, 2012, the pacts cover conductors, engineers, trainmen, yardmen and yardmasters. The contracts are retroactive to Jan. 1, 2009, and include retroactive pay.

Meanwhile, UTU-represented Nebraska Central Railroad Co. workers also ratified an agreement, which covers all crafts and affects work rules. The five-year pact provides a signing bonus, wage increases and improved working conditions.

Owned by Rio Grande Pacific Corp., Nebraska Central operates a 340-mile network comprising five former former Union Pacific Railroad branch lines and one former BNSF Railway Co. branch line.
