CSX seeks public's environment-protection ideas on Facebook

CSX Corp. is searching for “the next big environmental idea” via a “Tomorrow Moves Project” contest the Class I is conducting on Facebook, the railroad announced yesterday.

Members of the public can "like" CSX’s Facebook page and submit an idea — in 200 words or less — that describes how they would help protect the environment for the future. A panel of judges will study the 10 entries that receive the most votes online and choose two winners, who each will receive $5,000. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EDT on May 13.

The contest will engage a broader online audience for the Class I and generate creative environmental ideas, CSX officials said in a prepared statement

“The Tomorrow Moves Project will advance the ongoing discussion about environmental leadership and identify at least two individuals who are promising leaders in the green arena,” said Carl Gerhardstein, CSX’s assistant vice president of environmental systems and sustainability, who will help judge the contest.
