National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) President John Ficker resigned Nov. 14 after accepting a position with a Chicago-area industrial real estate firm, according to a letter NITL Chairman Curt Warfel sent to league members.

Ficker joined NITL as president in 2003. His previous positions include logistics development manager for Weyerhaeuser Co., corporate transportation manager for Publishers Paper Co. and several sales-related posts at Southern Pacific Transportation Co.

An executive search team comprising NITL's executive committee, former league Chairman Tom Pellington and NITL counsel Nick DiMichael will immediately seek candidates for the president position, said Warfel, Eka Chemical's manager of logistics and distribution.

One of the oldest and largest U.S. associations representing freight transportation professionals, NITL is an association of companies involved in the transportation of goods both domestically and internationally.
