Belt business: BRC, IHB enter trackage rights pact

advertisement

Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co. (IHB) recently entered a trackage rights agreement with The Belt Railway of Chicago (BRC) giving BRC an opportunity to do business with Canadian National Railway Co. (CN)

Under the agreement, IHB granted non-exclusive bridge trackage rights to BRC between an IHB-BRC connection and an IHB-CN connection in Argo, Ill. — a total distance of about one mile. The trackage rights provide BRC with a direct connection with CN to facilitate a new interchange movement.

Surface Transportation Board granted the exemption Jan. 2; the decision was published in the Federal Register Jan. 9.
