On Aug. 9, U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) and representatives from the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association Inc. (NRC), Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, STX Railroad Construction and local organizations will meet at the Kia Georgia Training Center in West Point, Ga., to discuss railroads’ positive impact on the state’s economy and role in continuing to support business in Georgia.

During the meeting, titled “Partnership with the Railroad Industry: A Study in Economic Success,” Westmoreland will attend a briefing conducted by the NRC and Kia Motors, and tour the Kia plant and an on-site rail yard.

“The event provides the congressman an opportunity to discuss the railroad industry in Georgia and see firsthand how thriving companies like Kia utilize rail transportation as a part of their successful business plan,” organizers said in a meeting announcement.
