Yesterday, the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) and National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) announced they jointly decided to discontinue the co-location of their annual conferences and exhibitions after next year.

NITL's TransComp Exhibition and IANA's Intermodal Expo will re-launch as separate trade shows at different venues beginning in 2014. The two shows will remain co-located next year at a joint event be held Nov. 11-13, 2013, in Houston.

The associations, which have worked together over the past 10 years, decided to re-launch the shows individually because of the increasing complexity of managing two simultaneous events, NITL and IANA officials said in a joint statement.

"We are making this announcement now out of respect for our loyal exhibitors, many of whom plan to exhibit years in advance [and] deserve as much lead time as possible to make some important decisions related to 2014 and beyond," said NITL President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Carlton.

In 2014, the IANA Intermodal Expo will be held Sept. 21-23 in Long Beach, Calif, and the NITL TransComp Exhibition will take place Nov. 14-19 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
