Tomorrow, Canadian Pacific Railway plans to mark the opening of a new yard office in Superior, Wis.

Earlier this year, the Class I demolished the existing 75-year-old yard office and connected three trailers to create a new 2,600-square-foot facility.

The new Superior Yard office houses 21 conductors and locomotive engineers, six track workers, one signal maintainer, one diesel mechanic and the yard manager. The mechanical department previously was located three miles from the yard and track department was housed in an older building a few feet from the former yard office.

Superior Yard primarily handles North Dakota and western Minnesota grain moved by Burlington Northern Santa Fe from Minneapolis. The yard also interchanges cars of printing paper, oriented strand board and building materials.
