On Oct. 28, Harsco Corp. announced China's Ministry of Railways placed a $68 million, 11-unit equipment order with subsidiary Harsco Track Technologies — Harsco's largest-ever track-maintenance equipment contract.

To be delivered during the next 36 months, the equipment includes mainline and switch/crossing rail grinders, and a Stoneblower, which is designed to pneumatically inject ballast under ties to accurately position track without disturbing the pre-existing ballast foundation. The Stoneblower unit would be Harsco's first in China.

"Our international orders for track-maintenance equipment and services total more than $175 million since … securing a greater international presence following our 1999 acquisition of Pandrol Jackson and formation of our consolidated Harsco Track Technologies division," said Harsco Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Derek Hathaway in a prepared statement.

Harsco Track Technologies previously sold track-maintenance equipment to the United Kingdom, Germany and Singapore.
