The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to hold 10 listening sessions across the state next month to solicit input that will help department officials identify freight movement issues, needs, trends, challenges and opportunities, and determine ways to enhance Texas' economic growth and competitiveness.

TxDOT is seeking feedback from the public, community leaders and industry representatives from throughout the state.

"Within the freight community, we hope to hear from individuals representing all facets of freight trade and movement, including railroads, ports, truckers, shippers, receivers, forwarders, agriculturists, manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, carriers, retailers, pipelines and transportation providers," TxDOT officials said in an announcement.

Sessions will be held in Beaumont, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, San Antonio and Tyler from June 4-20. Input obtained from the sessions will be used to develop statewide freight transportation priorities and investment strategies, and to ensure recommendations identified for the Texas Freight Mobility Plan address the needs of state's freight, logistics and business communities.
