On April 22, Australasian Railway Association (ARA) named Bryan Nye chief executive officer, effective at June's end. He initially will work in the association's Melbourne office, which ARA plans to move to Canberra.

Nye most recently served as executive director of the Australian Institute of Petroleum.

"The ARA will continue to participate strongly in promoting and developing an agenda for policy change for Australia's transport systems, [and] Bryan Nye will provide the leadership to increase our effectiveness in all areas of reform," said ARA President Stephen Bradford in a prepared statement.

Representing railroad industry firms in Australia and New Zealand, ARA seeks to promote and develop governmental policies that would improve Australia's transportation and logistics. The association's 170 members include the countries' rail operators and track owners, as well as equipment suppliers and maintainers, and engineering, legal, financial and insurance firms.
