On April 7, RailAmerica Inc. named William "Gus" Pagonis vice chairman. A board member since February 2000, he chairs the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee, and serves the Compensation Committee.


Executive vice president and supply-chain head for Sears, Roebuck and Co., and president of Sears Logistics Services Inc., Pagonis previously served as a member of RailTex Inc.'s board until the short-line holding company was acquired by RailAmerica in early 2000.


Prior to joining Sears in 1993, Pagonis served the U.S. Army for 29 years, retiring as a three-star lieutenant general.
