Because of rising diesel prices, CSX Intermodal plans to increase its fuel surcharge from 2.9 percent to 3.1 percent on Aug. 4. The surcharge will remain in effect through August.


CSXI adjusts the surcharge each month based on a calculation between U.S. Department of Energy's pre-gallon price index the Monday before a month starts and $1.10.


The surcharge applies to CSXI's ramp-to-ramp, ramp-to-door, door-to-ramp and door-to-door rates.
