Progressive Railroading's website has undergone a redesign. The site's homepage now features an "infinite scroll" layout, which allows users to access more content by continually scrolling down the page.

Print features now will appear on the homepage scroll alongside Daily News briefs and Rail Product News posts. To access more print content, users can hover over the "Magazine" tab at the righthand side of the top navigation bar.

"Infinite scroll layouts have become the standard among many news media organizations," said Wayne Winter, vice president of e-media and creative services at Trade Press Media Inc., the parent company of Progressive Railroading. "The newly designed site gives readers a mix of fresh content when they visit, while the navigation panel at the top of the page allows easy access to older stories."

To meet readers' changing preferences, the site's design is compatible with both desktop computers and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

The "News" tab at the top left of the page houses all the magazine's content categories, such as intermodal, maintenance-of-way, and passenger rail. Users can click on each category to find more features and news briefs about that topic. Alternatively, users can browse content by clicking on specific railroad names in the "News" tab.

Readers can access the magazine's various product directories and yearbooks by hovering over the "Products" tab.

The "Trending" tab features editor-selected articles or news briefs that showcase recent rail-industry trends, while the "Education & Events" tab provides more information about Progressive Railroading's upcoming shows and webcasts.

All these tabs are accessible in the mobile version of the site, too. Mobile users can click on the menu icon at the top left of their screen to pull up the list of tabs.

In addition, registered users will receive notifications about special reports and other new content. The icon next to users' email addresses on the top lefthand side of the page will notify readers about this kind of content.
