The Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee's (RTA) board has awarded Pennrose Properties exclusive rights of negotiation for a transit-oriented development project at the Music City Star's Donelson Station in Nashville.

The project will include a mixed-use development aimed at promoting ridership, according to an RTA press release.

"The vision presented by Pennrose really captured the spirit of transit-oriented development," RTA Chair Kim McMillan said.

The next steps involve working with the local community on conceptual plans, identifying business stakeholders and development of funding and financing options.

RTA awarded the project to Pennrose following a request for qualifications.

The Donelson Station is the Music City Star's first stop after downtown Nashville.
