The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) on Tuesday unveiled a new website.

The site provides information on Canada's Class I, short line, intercity, commuter and tourist rail operators, as well as RAC's various services and initiatives.

To mark the association's 100th anniversary, the site also features an interactive timeline documenting the role that railroads have played in Canada's history. Using the tool, visitors can explore historic events and innovations that have made the country's rail industry what it is today, RAC officials said in a press release.

"When people visit our website, we want them to understand the pillars of Canada's rail business, such as our commitment to safety and sustainability, but we also want them to learn something they didn't know before," said said RAC President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Bourque.

RAC was first established in 1917 to ensure the coordinated movements of troops and supplies during World War I.
