Johnstown America Corp. July 1 finished delivering 720 AutoFlood III™ coal cars to Ameren Corp., which plans to use the 53-foot automatic-discharge hoppers to carry coal from Wyoming's Powder River Basin to four St. Louis-area generating plants.

The 286,000-pound gross rail-load capacity AutoFlood IIIs, which feature an aluminum automated-door system designed to enhance coal discharge for various unloading conditions, were built at Johnstown America's Danville, Ill., plant.

The cars represent Johnstown America's first production run of AutoFlood IIIs, which incorporate the company's MegaFlo™ door system with a 50-inch outlet.
