On Aug. 7, CSX Transportation named Frederick Favorite Jr. senior vice president-performance improvement.

Reporting directly to CSX Corp. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward, Favorite will be responsible for coordinating and implementing an integrated performance-improvement program incorporating Six Sigma, a fact-based approach to productivity improvements.

His responsibilities also include implementing a "process-focused structure" to foster cultural change and continuous improvement, and overseeing the implementation of a "balanced scorecard" to link the railroad's improvement efforts to strategic business objectives.

"[Favorite's] commitment to Six Sigma, and our company's core values of 'fact-based' and 'right results, right way' will help to ensure the success of our performance improvement efforts," said Ward in a prepared statement.

Favorite most recently served as CSXT's senior vice president-finance. He previously served CSXT as vice president-planning and analysis, and chief commercial officer, and held several senior financial posts at Sea-Land Service Inc.
