On Dec. 30, CSX Transportation named Ray Griffith Jr. assistant vice president-coal operations.
Griffith will serve as a coordinating link between operations, and sales and marketing, and will be responsible for overseeing the allocation of resources, crews and locomotives. He will report to Pat Daly, vice president-network operations.
"Ray brings a vast amount of coal-operations expertise to this position,"
said Frank Pursley, CSXT senior vice president-service design, in a prepared statement. "He's been involved in every facet of the coal business from customers and producers, to network operations in the field and at headquarters."
Griffith, who most recently served as assistant vice president-southern region, has 25 years of railroading experience. He began his career as a brakeman/conductor for C&O Railroad, and later served CSXT as superintendent of operations, assistant general manager-coal operations, general manager-network operations and general manager of the Class I's Appalachian Division.
