Norfolk Southern Corp. Oct. 3 announced the company plans to provide enhanced benefits to employees called up by Department of Defense for active duty as reservists in Operation Enduring Freedom.
The benefits — designed to help support employees and their families during deployment — include a $1,500 monthly income supplement and continuing health and life insurance coverage.
NS would provide benefits for the first 90 days of an employee's active duty; the company might choose to extend the benefits.
"These measures help express our appreciation and support for employees called up for duty as members of the armed forces reserves," said David Goode, NS chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.
