CPR to sell — or abandon — New Brunswick line

advertisement

Canadian Pacific Railway June 5 began offering for sale to short lines the Edmunston Spur, a low-density 7.8-mile line between Grand Falls and Cyr Junction, New Brunswick.
CPR previously identified the line as a discontinuance candidate in its three-year network plan.
But before it can abandon the line, CPR (per Canada Transportation Act requirements) first must offer the line for sale to the private sector.
Parties interested in acquiring the line must contact CPR in writing by Aug. 6.
If a purchase agreement isn't reached within six months of Aug. 6, CPR can offer the line for sale at net salvage value to provincial and adjacent municipal governments.
