IANA, NITL nail down dates for joint expo

Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) recently announced plans to hold International Intermodal Expo (Expo 2002) Nov. 16-19 at the Anaheim, Calif., convention center in conjunction with National Industrial Transportation League's TransComp. The organizations, which recently formalized a co-location agreement, previously announced that Expo 2002 would be held No. 17-20.
IANA in December announced plans to co-locate its exposition with NITL's TransComp based on cooperative efforts during the past two years between IANA, NITL and Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), which plans to hold its fall membership meeting at the expo.
IANA, NITL and TIA officials believe that by combining two trade shows and three membership meetings, more than 4,000 people would attend, and more than 425 carriers and vendors would exhibit at the expo, according to a joint letter prepared last month.
Georgia Freight Bureau (GFB) and IANA since 1997 had jointly presented international intermodal expos, and the two organizations in 2000 decided to stage the event every two years beginning in 2002.
But GFB in October withdrew as co-presenter and cancelled a planned April 2002 intermodal expo, leading IANA to assume sole rights and interests in the trade show, and schedule its own program.
