CPR subsidiary rolls out shipment-management software
advertisement
Canadian Pacific Railway subsidiary Tronicus Inc. Feb. 5 launched VC(2), a software application designed to provide multi-carrier, multi-modal shipment tracking and tracing capabilities, and a more-proactive problem-solving feature.
VC(2) — meaning visibility, connectivity and control — would enable users to track shipments on rail, ocean vessels and trucks, as well as obtain increased visibility of warehoused freight.
Officials of Tronicus, a supply-chain management services provider, believe users would have more-immediate Internet-based access to track moving or at-rest domestic and international shipments, even down to an item level.
The software also is designed to provide up-to-date shipping information, such as more-dynamic estimated times of arrival and user-defined alerts, and shipment-performance reports containing detailed post-transit data aimed at helping users improve shipment planning and management.
The application's data quality and logistics functions are supported by CSX Corp. subsidiary BridgePoint.
