Next year, Korea will host its second railway and logistics exhibition, at which organizers plan to promote the creation of a Trans-Eurasian railway and construction of infrastructure to support a northeastern Asia logistics hub.

Scheduled to be held June 8-11 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan, Korea, the "Korea Railways & Logistics Fair 2005" is sponsored by the Korean National Railroad, Korea Rolling Stock Industries Association (KORSIA), RFID/USN Association of Korea and city of Busan.

The event will include presentations on freight and passenger cars, high-speed rail technology, fare-collection systems, ticketing, passenger control, and car and locomotive components and maintenance. The fair also will include logistics-related sessions on information technology, vehicles, radio frequency identification, combined transport systems, loading equipment, packing and containers, and facilities.

"We are convinced that we can develop the fair into Northeast Asia's leading railways and logistics exhibition," said KORSIA Chairman Hak-Jin Chung in a prepared statement. "This will help to lay the foundations for the world's fifth-largest exporter of railway vehicles."

Event organizers BEXCO and Messe Frankfurt Korea Ltd. expect the fair to attract more than 30,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors. The first fair held last year drew 32,000 attendees and 162 exhibitors from 13 countries.
