MxV Rail, formerly Transportation Technology Center Inc., this week broke ground on a new custom test loop near Pueblo, Colorado, to support the organization's research needs.

The High Speed Loop, which is scheduled to open in September, will be the organization's largest test loop at 5.8 miles, and will support a variety of freight-rail and passenger-rail programs, including Association of American Railroads' M-976 truck testing, performance testing for new rail technologies and qualification testing for rolling stock, MxV Rail officials said in a press release.

"This new facility is the chance of a lifetime for our team of railroad experts and specialists. We took the best aspects of our old test loops and designed track not only capable of supporting today’s rail industry, but also an ideal test bed for proving tomorrow’s transportation innovations," said Assistant Vice President of Operations Shawn Vecellio.

The PuebloPlex site located east of Pueblo, Colorado, will eventually house MxV Rail's new railroad testing facility and other operations. The nearby Pueblo Industrial Park will also host office and laboratory space.
