UP to speed up trains on Iowa line

advertisement

Next week, Union Pacific Railroad will begin to increase train speed from 20 mph to 30 mph in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Class I will increase speed 5 mph on Nov. 21 and Nov. 28.

Train speed currently is limited to 20 mph in the city because of track and operating constraints. However, UP recently improved track and upgraded crossings to permit faster speeds.

Earlier this year, UP increased train speeds in Sulphur, La., and seven Texas towns after completing track and crossing improvements.
