VolkerRail to use Applied Ultrasonics' metal component-strengthening system in Europe

Applied Ultrasonics recently agreed to grant VolkerRail exclusive rights to use and sublicense the Esonix® UIT ultrasonic system on freight- and passenger-rail and rail-related products in Europe.

Esonix UIT is designed to extend the service life of structures and components by enhancing the physical and mechanical properties of metal to improve wear and corrosion resistance.

VolkerRail — which provides railway infrastructure contracting and maintenance services, and markets rail-maintenance components— plans to use Esonix UIT to reduce customers’ maintenance and operating costs.

“This agreement is in line with our technology vision of providing enhanced services and solutions to our customers resulting in increased track availability,” said VolkerRail managing Director Jan Kees de Pagter in a prepared statement.
