CN and Norfolk Southern Railway, recently recognized some of their supply-chain partners for their sustainability efforts.
Yesterday, CN announced the recognition of 73 suppliers and supply chain partners through the railroad’s EcoConnextions Partnership Program. Companies are honored at gold, silver and bronze levels for their work to reduce their environmental impact and implement sustainable and ethical business practices, CN officials said in a press release.
Also, CN will plant 100,000 trees in partnership with Tree Canada to recognize the supply-chain partners' achievements. A full list of honorees can be found here.
Meanwhile, NS recognized 14 suppliers with its Thoroughbred Sustainability Partner Awards, which recognize companies that are leaders in energy efficiency, innovation and environmental stewardship.
"Railroads are an essential part of a low-carbon supply chain," said NS Chief Marketing Officer Ed Elkins in a press release. "Each year, Norfolk Southern helps our customers avoid approximately 15 million metric tons of emissions and reduce congestion and wear on public highways.”
An NS cross-departmental team reviewed applications for the awards and selected winners based on their program’s novelty, relevance and impact. A full list of the winners can be found here.
