Kansas City Southern de México extends and connects Saltillo District sidings

Last month, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) completed two siding projects designed to increase capacity between Saltillo and Monterrey — one of the railroad’s highest-tonnage segments.

Crews extended a Santa Maria siding in the Saltillo District from 2,645 feet to 9,352 feet. The longer siding will enable KCSM to perform industrial switching without interrupting mainline operations.

Workers also connected the district’s Ojo Caliente and Higueras sidings to create 3.7 miles of double track.
