The National Small Shipments Traffic Conference (NASSTRAC) plans to hold a "Logistics 101" seminar Feb. 8 and 9 at the Oak Brook Marriott in Chicago.

Designed for professionals who need for a broader understanding of logistics fundamentals, the event will include presentations on all transportation modes, emerging logistics trends, current technologies, trade and compliance issues, legal requirements and logistics best practices.

PepsiCo Beverages & Foods Vice President Carl Curry will be the keynote speaker. Other presenters include Janet Kemp, transportation manager of Grainger Industrial Supply; Eric Morley, director of logistics for Best Buy Co.; and Michael Levans, chief editor of Logistics Management magazine. The event also will include panel discussions with executives from Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Swift Transportation, The Hub Group, DHL, Northwest Airlines and ABF Freight.

"There are very few educational venues in the industry that provide basic education on transportation and logistics in a quick, easy-to-understand and affordable format," said NASSTRAC Executive Director Brian Everett in a prepared statement.
