Harsco Track Technologies (HTT) recently was named the 2004 "World Trader of the Year" by the South Carolina World Trade Center.

The award recognizes HTT's international growth — including equipment orders obtained during the past three years from China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Africa, India and other countries totaling more than $160 million — and the South Carolina government's international trade support for the company.

"Export sales will continue to be a key part of our growth, especially considering that more than 80 percent of the world's railway track is outside the United States," said HTT President Robert Newman in a prepared statement, adding that the company expects about one-third of total 2004 sales to come from international deliveries.

A division of Harsco Corp., HTT offers railroad track maintenance equipment and services.
