Kansas City Southern Railway installs revenue management system

advertisement

On July 1, the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) deployed a Revenue Management System (RMS) designed to streamline billing and more accurately track daily revenue.

Developed by a team comprising representatives from the information technology, revenue accounting, and sales and marketing departments, RMS will match a transportation waybill against a central price repository, which contains KCSR’s published prices and other railroads’ rates electronically transmitted through a Rate Electronic Data Interchange network. The system will assist revenue accounting, financial reporting and decision-support processes.

KCSR parent Kansas City Southern plans to deploy a similar RMS at Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V.
