The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recently appointed Scott Witt to the newly created position of multi-modal manager.

He will serve as WSDOT’s key contact for rail, port and highway shipping issues, and project manager for the transportation commission’s rail capacity study. Witt also will lead negotiations with the Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad. The department is trying to acquire a third track segment from the short line and its owner, the Watco Cos. Inc.

Witt most recently served as director of corporate transportation for Oregon Steel Mills Inc., which manufactures steel rail through its Rocky Mountain Steel Mills Division.
