The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently promoted Managing Director Dan Campbell to executive director and appointed Joseph Osterman to succeed Campbell.

Since joining the board in 1990, Campbell also has served as general counsel. He previously spent 20 years with the Civil Aeronautics Board and Interstate Commerce Commission, serving in various capacities.

Osterman most recently served as director of NTSB's Office of Highway Safety. During his 19-year board career, he also has served as a field highway accident investigator, investigator in charge, major investigation branch chief and highway division chief.

The NTSB also named Bruce Magladry acting director of the Office of Highway Safety to succeed Osterman; Joseph Kolly, deputy director of the Office of Research and Engineering; and Karen Lanier, deputy general counsel.

Magladry most recently served as deputy director of the Office of Highway Safety. Since joining the board in 1988, he also has served as a human performance investigator and chief of the highway safety office's investigations division.

Kolly most recently served as acting deputy director of the research and engineering office. Since joining NTSB in 1998, he also has served as a vehicle performance engineer, fire and explosion investigator, national resource specialist for applied research and chief of the vehicle performance division.

Finally, Lanier most recently served as an attorney in the general counsel's office. Since joining the board in 1992, she also has served as chief of the Office of Aviation's safety writing and editing division, and staff attorney in the general counsel's office.
