Yesterday, Duos Technologies Inc. announced it’s teaming with Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc. to design, manufacture and install a security system along a seven-mile CSX Transportation line between the Class I’s Benning Yard and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

Duos and Epsilon Systems recently obtained a $9.8 million contract from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to supply the system, which will integrate intelligent video, radio frequency identification and other surveillance technologies. CSXT, DHS, the Federal Railroad Administration and D.C. police studied the line for several months before selecting the integrated system.

“The system will include artificial intelligence to detect anomalies along the corridor and simultaneously alert various security teams if our security buffer is compromised,” said Duos Chief Executive Officer Gianni Arcaini in a prepared statement. “The project will benefit from the participation of a very broad spectrum of security experts, including DHS, law enforcement [and] the rail industry.”

During the past two years, Duos has developed and installed several tunnel and bridge security systems for CSXT.
