Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Rail Transportation Committee and Journal of Transportation Engineering (JTE) are soliciting papers on freight, intercity and regional passenger rail for a special issue that will focus on rail transportation and engineering. Manuscripts are due Nov. 1.
Papers’ scope can range from facilities and materials to systems-level
engineering and analysis to planning, design and construction to environmental performance. Topics would include all aspects of railway infrastructure, such as roadbed; track geometry, structure, components and materials; bridges; signals and traffic control; and power distribution systems. Papers also can focus on rail facilities, including stations, yards, terminals, maintenance buildings, and operation control and dispatching centers.
Manuscripts — which can be domestic or international in scope — should conform to standard ASCE journal format requirements. For more information, log onto http://www.pubs.asce.org/authors/index.html#manreq or send an email to ASCErailroad@uiuc.edu.
