BNSF to serve two new ethanol plants in Texas

advertisement

Earlier this week, Panda Ethanol Inc. announced plans to build a 100 million-gallon-capacity ethanol plant in Sherman County, Texas. The company already is building a similar facility in Hereford, Texas.

Both plants will be served by BNSF Railway Co., says Panda Ethanol spokesman Bill Pentak.

To be located on a 1,200-acre site near Stratford, Texas, the Sherman County plant is designed to generate steam used in the ethanol manufacturing process by gasifying more than 1 billion pounds of cattle manure annually. After Panda Ethanol secures financing, regulatory approvals and a state air permit, construction will begin and take about 18 months to complete.
