Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
BNSF Railway Co. is taking the time to thank a business partner that’s helped the Class I boost intermodal volume about 10 percent in the first half: truckers.
Similar to a “We Love Truckers” event BNSF hosted in 2004 and a celebration held last year, the railroad is honoring truck drivers at its intermodal facilities in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Los Angeles this week as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
BNSF employees have posted “Going the Extra Mile Together” signs at the terminals, and will provide lunch and refreshments for an estimated 2,000 truck drivers. Railroad officials also sent celebration kits to 80 truckload customers and will attend several trucking firms’ events, including those held by J.B. Hunt Transportation Services Inc., Schneider National Inc., Werner Enterprises Inc., Swift Transportation Co. Inc. and U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc.
“These events are our way of saying ‘Thank you,’ to our trucking company partners and their drivers,” said BNSF Vice President of Domestic Intermodal George Duggan in a prepared statement. “By working together, trucks and trains are providing transportation solutions for companies across the nation.”
