Alstom recently won a $316.7 million contract to supply Spanish rail operator RENFE with 30 commuter trains. In addition to manufacturing the five-coach Civia IV model trainsets, Alstom will maintain the vehicles for 14 years.

Designed to reduce noise levels inside the train, the air-conditioned, aluminum vehicles will feature video screens, reserved seating and adapted toilets to make access and "getting around" easier for disabled people, according to an Alstom prepared statement.

The vehicles will be manufactured at Alstom's Santa Perpetua de Mogoda plant in Barcelona. Deliveries will begin in September 2009 and continue through July 2010, Alstom says.
