Algerian public transportation operator Entreprise du Métro d’Alger recently awarded contracts totaling $964.8 million to two Alstom-led consortiums to supply “turnkey” tramways systems for the cities of Oran and Constantine.

In Oran, a consortium comprising Alstom Transport and Isolux CORSAN will build an 11.2-mile, 32-station line. Alstom will supply 30 Citadis tramways, signaling and telecommunications systems, station equipment and substations. Isolux CORSAN will conduct civil engineering work, and provide track and overhead power lines.

In Constantine, Alstom and Italy’s Pizzarotti will build a five-mile, 11-station line. Alstom will provide 27 Citadis tramways, track, electrical power, signaling and telecommunications systems and station equipment; Pizzarotti will conduct civil engineering work.
