The Charlotte Area Transit System’s (CATS) new light-rail line is well on its way to meeting projected daily ridership of 9,100 passengers during its first year. On Monday and Tuesday, 6,691 and 8,029 riders, respectively, climbed aboard LYNX Blue Line trains.

CATS launched introductory service on the 9.6-mile corridor last weekend; revenue service began on Monday.

The 15-station line runs from Interstate 485 at South Boulevard to downtown Charlotte. On weekdays, trains will operate every seven-and-a-half minutes during peak periods and every 15 minutes during non-peak periods. On weekends, trains will run every 20 minutes and 15 minutes during peak and non-peak hours, respectively.
