Maryland Transit Administration to hold public meetings on proposed Purple Line

Later this month, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will hold five open houses to provide ridership and cost estimates and other information on the proposed Purple Line.

The 16-mile line would run from New Carrollton to Bethesda, and include stops in Riverdale Park, College Park, Takoma/Langley Park and Silver Spring. MTA plans to operate either light rail or bus rapid transit on the.

The line would connect with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Red, Green and Orange lines, as well as the MARC Brunswick, Camden and Penn lines.
