The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) will invite four teams to submit design proposals for downtown San Francisco’s Transbay Transit Center.

The design and development teams are Santiago Calatrava and Boston Properties; Skidmore Owings and Merrill and Rockefeller Group Development Corp.; Pelli Clark Pelli Architects and Hines; and Sir Richard Rogers Partnership and Forest City Enterprises with MacFarlane Partners. TJPA plans to share the firms’ proposed designs with the public in fall.

The $3.4 billon Transbay Transit Center will replace the current Transbay Terminal and be served by eight transportation systems, including Caltrain, San Francisco Municipal Railway, Bay Area Rapid Transit and the future California high-speed rail system.

TJPA is a collaboration of bay area government and transportation agencies committed to replacing San Francisco’s Transbay Terminal to meet area transportation needs.
