ALSTOM to supply trainsets for SNCF, freight locomotives for Veolia Cargo

ALSTOM Transport recently obtained two European orders for passenger-rail trains and freight locomotives totaling $351.2 million.

French transit-rail agency SNCF ordered 51 double-deck Coradia Duplex distributed-power regional trains — 39 three-car and 12 four-car trainsets. Bombardier Transportation will help manufacture 63 of the trains under a workshare agreement.

In addition, freight-rail operator Veolia Cargo exercised an option within an October 2005 contract to purchase an additional 10 Prima electric locomotives to operate in France and Germany. ALSTOM will maintain the locomotives for eight years. Veolia Cargo now has purchased 17 Prima locomotives from Bombardier.

Featuring a tri-current power supply system, the locomotives will be delivered between February 2008 and October 2008.
