Amtrak to rehabilitate second track on Susquehanna River Bridge

Amtrak recently began rehabilitating a portion of the Susquehanna River Bridge between Baltimore, Md., and Wilmington, Del.

The $4.5 million project calls for replacing 3,184 ties and about a mile of continuous-welded rail on the double-track bridge’s east side. Amtrak completed similar work on the bridge’s other track in September 2005. In addition, the national intercity passenger railroad will install controlled-access walkways and handrails on both sides of the bridge.
