Bombardier to provide cars, maintenance for Brussels transport authority

The Brussels transport authority (STIB) recently awarded a contract totaling $145 million to Bombardier Transportation to provide 46 FLEXITY Outlook trams, and provide overhaul and corrective maintenance on the vehicles’ bogies and propulsion equipment during the next 15 years.

STIB can order a minimum of 10 vehicles per series during the next five years. The vehicles will cost $123 million, maintenance services, $22 million.

Bombardier will manufacture the vehicles at its Bruges, Belgium, facility; bogies will be produced at the Siegen, Germany, facility and propulsion, at the Mannheim, Germany, facility.

Delivery is expected between June 2005 and February 2007.
