On Friday, 10East Corp. announced it launched railHOUND, a vertical-market search engine designed for the North American rail industry.

Accessible at www.railhound.com, railHOUND can search half a million rail-related URLs, including Class Is’, regionals’, short lines’, transit authorities’ and governments’ Web sites. 10East is working closely with rail industry suppliers to index only those companies that are active members of an industry trade association.

“At no cost, member companies of our partner trade organizations can use railHOUND to provide users of their Web sites with searching capabilities that are constrained to just their own web sites,” said 10East Senior System Engineer Tom Allen in a prepared statement. “Similarly, for participating trade organizations, railHOUND provides search capabilities for just their group of active member companies.”

10East provides business management software solutions and systems — including RailDOCS™ (Railway Daily Operations Control System) — to the North American railroad industry.
