Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Pueblo, Colo.-based Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) has opened an eastern office — as in east across the Atlantic Ocean. Yesterday, the Association of American Railroads railway technology subsidiary introduced TTCI(UK) Ltd., a separate research arm based in London. TTCI appointed Firdausi "Dose" Irani managing director of TTCI(UK).
Since 1999, TTCI has completed a number of research projects in the United Kingdom, including a British railway system study on mitigating rolling contact fatigue. Network Rail recently contracted TTCI(UK) to conduct a long-term vehicle-track system research project aimed at extending asset life.
"We will now be able to better meet the needs of our growing customer base in the UK by having engineering and research staff resident in London," said TTCI President Roy Allen in a prepared statement.
