Hansen Inc. recently acquired the assets of Farrell, Pa.-based Independent Draft Gear, which reconditions and tests draft gears principally for the rail-car repair market.

Independent Draft Gear will become a business unit of Hansen subsidiary A. Stucki Co. and will be managed by A. Stucki President William Kiefer.

Combining the companies will reinforce Independent Draft Gear's technical base and market presence, and enable both suppliers to accelerate growth, according to a prepared statement.

The McIntire Group, Hermitage, Pa., served as transaction agent for the sale.

Pittsburgh-based A. Stucki Co. supplies constant-contact side bearings, resilient friction wedges, and body-side bearing plates and wedges used in new and repaired cars.
